Good News StoriesMoney Buddies

“A client came to the bureau who was in financial hardship as a result of having to pay the under occupancy charge (bedroom tax). This was causing them to struggle with other household bills. I identified that the client met the criteria to apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment in respect of short term assistance from the local authority in paying the bedroom tax. The local authority assessed the application and awarded the client a discretionary housing payment to cover their bedroom tax for 39 weeks, which meant the client could budget for other bills in the short term.”

“A client came to the bureau and stated that they felt they were paying too much for their household energy bills. The bureau assisted the client in reducing their energy bills by £40 per month, which the client was delighted with.”
